Oscar De La Hoya would like to stage a huge fight for Vergil Ortiz at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Ortiz has shown plenty of qualities in his most recent fights and he has firmly set himself up as one of boxing’s brightest talents.

Last month, Ortiz produced the best performance of his career when he outpointed Israil Madrimov in Saudi Arabia – a contest many within the boxing trade believed he would lose.

With that victory, Ortiz is now in the frame for even bigger fights and his promoter is working hard behind the scenes plotting his next move.

With Terence Crawford seemingly set to face Canelo Alvarez later this year in a blockbuster clash , Ortiz may have to be patient trying to secure that fight.

One other option is a former rival of Crawford, Errol Spence, and De La Hoya is eager to make the fight between two Texans.

Spence has not fought since he was beaten by Crawford in the summer of 2023 , but could a mega fight between him and Ortiz tempt him back into the ring?

“Vergil is coming off two tough fights which can be tough on the body as well and tough on the mind,” said De La Hoya when speaking to FightHype

“I’m thinking about doing a homecoming party for him in Dallas and fight a top 10 guy. Then go after Fundora and then go after Crawford after he comes back down to 154 after he fights Canelo at 168.

“There’s a lot of options out there for Vergil. I’m excited. Imagine if we can put together a Vergil-Spence fight at Dallas Stadium at the Cowboys Stadium. That would sell out the place. I think that’s something to consider as well. There’s some good options for Vergil.”
