Former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will be venturing into the world of football following the announcement that he will be joining Wayne Rooney as a co-manager of the England team at this year's Soccer Aid event.

The event is a Unicef fundraiser and will take place at Old Trafford, the home of Rooney's former team Manchester United, on Sunday, June 15.

After Queensberry Promotions posted a video teasing a Fury announcement, some thought that the 'Gypsy King' was going to end his retirement and return to boxing.

However, this was not the case and Fury is instead looking forward to the opportunity of taking part in an event being staged at his beloved Manchester United.

"The prospect of leading my England team to victory this June fills me with just as much excitement as any heavyweight fight," Fury said.

"Everyone knows that I am a huge Manchester United fan too, so it's even more special for me that the game is at Old Trafford this year, and I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney."

Fury retired from boxing in January following two successive losses to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk last year

While there are some who believe Fury will end his time away from boxing for a fight with Anthony Joshua, there has been no inkling from his camp that this will happen in 2025.
