Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford - Fighter who has faced both gives his verdict

Amir Khan knows what it takes to get into the ring with both Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

The British star, a former world champion, spent the bulk of his illustrious career chasing the big fights and that included landing showdowns with the aforementioned boxers.

In 2016, Khan made an ambitious leap to middleweight, but his jump in class was brutally punished as he was knocked out cold by Canelo.

The result forced Khan to take a lengthy break from boxing, but after securing two wins on his comeback, he was soon up against it as he faced Crawford in 2019.

Khan was dominated from the opening round and eventually stopped in the sixth session when he could not continue after receiving a low blow.

After the Crawford setback, Khan would only fight two more times, and he walked away from boxing after a 2022 loss to Kell Brook

With Crawford and Canelo now set for a huge blockbuster fight at some point in 2025 , Khan has delivered his verdict on how the fight may go.

“I wish him [Crawford] all the best, and I think he can do it. One thing about Terence Crawford is he has a great boxing IQ. His IQ is so perfect that he’ll see everything,” said Khan when speaking to The Ring

“You need everything in the game, from the ring IQ to you need movement, you need power, and speed. Crawford does hit hard. A lot of people don’t give Crawford the credit for the punch power he has. Crawford does hit hard. I’ve been in the ring with him, and he was hitting me hard.

“Obviously, the more powerful fighter between the two is going to be Canelo, but Crawford has enough power to hurt Canelo and push him back and show him that he’s right in front of him as a challenge.”
