George Kambosos is hoping for a world title shot if he can get past Jake Wylie this weekend , but there are other high-profile options if he has to remain patient.
Kambosos faces Wylie in Sydney, live on DAZN , this Saturday, after the latter stepped in at late notice to replace the medically uncleared Daud Yordan.
The former world champion is having his first fight since last year and he has a point to prove after being stopped by Vasiliy Lomachenko .
If successful, several options exist for Kambosos and one could be a showdown against Jack Catterall as both fighters look for a way back to the top.
Last month, Catterall was beaten by Arnold Barboza and that has put his world title plans up in the air with the American now going on to face Teofimo Lopez in May.
Eddie Hearn, the promoter of both Kambosos and Catterall, has big ambitions for both men and he has not ruled out the pair colliding at some point in the future.
“He’s had a lot of fights back-to-back, and he needs a good rest,” said Hearn when discussing Catterall with BoxingScene .
“But I’ve spoken to Sam Jones and said to him, ‘Look, do you want to have a comeback fight, or do you want to go straight back into a big fight?’, and they were quite clear. ‘Straight back into a big fight.’ So, I need to find a big name for Jack to jump back in again.
“Whether that’s maybe even Dalton Smith down the line, whether that’s Richardson Hitchins, whether that’s Kambosos. There are so many options at 140. But he wants to go straight back into a big fight.”
