Pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford is no longer the WBC super middleweight champion after he was stripped following a meeting at the governing body's convention.
Taking place in Bangkok, Thailand until December 5, there have been plenty of major stories including unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk declaring his interest in facing former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
Crawford became the undisputed champion at super middleweight in September after he beat Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez by unanimous decision in Las Vegas.
As reported by Boxing Scene, Crawford has lost his WBC super middleweight title after failing to pay his fees to the sanctioning body for his last two fights.
The action was described as "a slap in the face", and WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman revealed that Crawford had not paid the $300,000 due from his $50m purse for fighting Alvarez.
It was also declared that Crawford had also failed to pay his sanctioning fee following his victory over Israil Madrimov for the WBA super welterweight title in August 2024.
"He forgot how to make $50 million," Sulaiman said.
Following the announcement of Crawford being stripped, the WBC confirmed that a fight between interim champion Christian Mbilli and Britain's Hamazh Sheeraz can be made for the vacant super middleweight title.
Mbilli managed to hold on to the WBC's interim super middleweight title on the undercard of Canelo-Crawford after a slugfest against Lester Martinez.
With both men giving it their all, the judges ringside failed to agree on a winner with the contest being declared a split decision draw.
Sheeraz meanwhile made a successful debut at super middleweight in July when he knocked out former Canelo opponent Edgar Berlanga in New York after failing to become champion at middleweight against Carlos Adames at the start of the year.
