Tony Bellew was a constant throughout the ferocious Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn media week that escalated when the former hit Benn with an egg across the face.

The pair had been set to clash at the end of 2022, but the bout was pulled at the last minute as there was an adverse finding in Benn’s drug test.

Benn believed the issue could have been caused by contaminated eggs and that was the main reason for Eubank Jr’s attack.

The pair will now go away and get into fighting shape for their April 26 encounter , but it is expected that there will be more fireworks on fight week when more press events and the weigh-in will take place.

Bellew, who featured in several high-profile clashes with the likes of David Haye and Oleksandr Usyk, has experienced the pressure of fight build-ups and is fully aware what they can do to a fighter.

With Eubank Jr in a beaming mood all week after seemingly striking the first shot at Benn, what has Bellew noticed from the initial hostilities?

“This is only the start for these two fighters, and I expect many more big moments as the fight gets closer,” said Bellew when speaking exclusively with DAZN News

“Eubank Jr will definitely feel the week belonged to him as he was the main talking point and he got sneak one on Benn, but there’s a long way to go for both fighters.

“Both of these fighters have been around a very long time, and they’ll know deep down that the egg incident won't have a big impact on the outcome. It’s just more a pride thing.

“The hard work will now begin for both fighters as neither can really afford to lose when the stakes are so high, and the rivalry is so personal. Eubank Jr has a small advantage as it stands but let’s see what happens next.”
