Frank Warren has always kept an eye on the Olympic Games as the summer spectacular has frequently turned out numerous high-profile stars.

Joe Joyce, who fights this weekend, live on DAZN, against Filip Hrgovic, and he performed well at the 2016 games when he received a silver medal.

Here, DAZN News takes a look at several high-profile Olympians who have put their careers in Warren’s hands.

Amir Khan

The 2004 silver medalist won the hearts of a nation as the Bolton superstar performed admirably despite only being 17.

After falling short against Mario Kindelan in the final, Amir Khan was wanted by all the major promoters, but it was Frank Warren who won the race to sign him.

Khan would make his professional debut the following year before enjoying a stellar career that saw him reign as world champion.

James DeGale

Groves v DeGale

Winning gold at the 2008 Olympics made James DeGale an instant star and the London super middleweight soon put pen to paper with Frank Warren.

Brash and confident, DeGale’s manner in the ring was not for everyone, but there was no doubt that he could get the job done when it mattered most.

In 2015, DeGale became Britain’s first male fighter to win a world title after capturing a gold medal.

Billy Joe Saunders

Like Degale, Billy Joe Saunders also made some noise at the 2008 Olympics, but he was unable to make it to the podium like his Team GB colleague.

Saunders, along with DeGale and Frankie Gavin, joined Frank Warren shortly after the games and he made his debut the following year.

Saunders would win world titles in two weight classes, but he has not fought since losing to Canelo Alvarez in 2021.

Tom Stalker

After spending the first stage of his career promoted by Eddie Hearn, Tom Stalker made the switch to Frank Warren in 2014, two years after competing at the London Olympics.

Stalker, arguably Liverpool’s best ever amateur fighter, was unsure whether to turn professional after developing a style that was probably more suited to the shorter format.

Titles did come as Stalker won WBO European honours, but after a loss to Sean Dodd in 2017, Stalker would walk away from the ring to concentrate on management.

Joe Joyce

After testing himself in big fights early in his career following a successful 2016 Olympics, Joe Joyce joined forces with Frank Warren in 2019.

After landing huge wins against Daniel Dubois in 2020 and Joseph Parker two years later, Joyce appeared to be on his way to world title glory.

That all changed when he suffered losses to Zhilei Zhang and Derek Chisora, but Joyce is still hopeful he can reach the top.
