Coming as a surprise to no one, Nigel Benn is backing his son to defeat Chris Eubank Jr.

Conor Benn will take on Eubank Jr. in an April 26 fight that extends the family rivalry, with Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr. having engaged in two epic bouts in the early 1990s. Now its the sons' turn to step into the ring, and there even may be more bad blood between the younger fighters than there was between their predecessors.

Nigel Benn failed to defeat Eubank Sr. in their two fights, losing by ninth-round TKO in their 1990 encounter before fighting to a draw three years later. However, the elder Benn believes his son is a "much better fighter" than he was and he expects a Conor to end things quickly against Eubank Jr.

"I don't see it going past four rounds," Nigel Benn declared on Thursday at a pre-fight press conference in London.

"If Liam Smith gave [Eubank Jr.] the problem that he did in the first fight [in Jan 2023], that's Liam Smith, he don't punch like Conor. He does not punch like Conor."

In addition to his son's punching power, Nigel Benn said Conor's overall boxing ability far outstrips his own, which is why he believes there will be a different outcome on April 26 than there was in his own famous battles with a Eubank.

"I'm more confident in this fight than I [was] with me and Chris Sr.," he said. "I just think that Conor's just gonna go out there and just give it to him, put it on him. And I know he would do that. I'm 100% confident in Connor doing that.

"I'm so relaxed, so sure I know what my son can do. He's actually a much better fighter than me. I could never box like Conor. I would just go in and have a bang. I just wanted to have a war. But Conor's got all of it in his locker, every single thing."
