Anthony Joshua is only focusing on two opponents when he eventually makes his return to the ring at some point this year.

That’s the verdict of Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s long time promoter, who has spoken out on what could be next for his heavyweight charge.

Last September, Joshua’s world was turned upside down when he was sensationally beaten by Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium

The former world champion had been a big favourite going into the contest, but his hopes of becoming ruler for a third time were immediately dashed when he was dropped in the opening round.

After hitting the canvas three more times, Dubois was eventually declared the winner in the fight’s fifth round leaving Joshua with a big decision to make.

The Watford man had been expected to go into 2025 and target a fight with Tyson Fury, but those plans are now up in the air after Joshua’s great rival announced his retirement at the start of the year.

Hearn, who also admitted that Joshua is currently recovering from a hand injury, is eager to see his fighter back in the ring, and he has provided a big update on where Joshua’s mindset is currently at.

“He's pretty relaxed, but I'll be honest, I think the only fights that really get his juices flowing are Dubois and Tyson Fury,” said Hearn when speaking to BoxingScene.

“Doesn't mean he won't fight someone else. But he's beaten Joseph Parker already, although Parker's on a great run. Agit Kabayel is on a great run, but if you’re AJ, can you get yourself up for that? I don't know.”
