Jaron Ennis jolted the welterweight division back to life with arguably the most impressive statement win of his career to defeat Eimantas Stanionis in Atlantic City.

The American delivered a superb performance to dismantle his opponent inside six rounds at Boardwalk Hall, uniting the IBF and WBA titles to become unified champion.

Since his 2023 elevation to IBF champion following Terence Crawford's refusal to take his mandatory challenge, Boots has sought to further cement his status.

Now, with two belts to his name, a 34-0 record across his professional career and this marquee victory over the robust Stanionis, the star will have his sights on undisputed glory.

Ennis led from the first bell in New Jersey, using his ability to switch stances between orthodox and southpaw to his advantage as he held command in the ring.

He targeted his foe's body and brushed off a few hits in the third to fully take control in the fourth, before unleashing a flurry of power hits during the fifth round.

That led to a decisive sixth and ultimately final round, as Ennis dropped Stanionis with a ruthless combination later on, with the latter's trainer waving it off before the seventh.

The next step for the 27-year-old will carry much speculation, with bouts against WBC holder Mario Barrios and WBO champion Brian Norman Jr. both possible contests.

Ennis conversely could choose to move up a weight class to super welterweight in pursuit of two-division glory, as he looks to further rubber-stamp his reputation.
