The first meeting between Taylor and Serrano was a historic one.

Taking place at MSG, this would be the first boxing event at the iconic arena headlined by two female athletes, and they both delivered.

Serrano dominated early on with Taylor struggling to gain a foothold and was almost stopped in the fifth.

Come round six, Taylor grabbed the fight by the scruff of the neck led by her counter punching ability which forced Serrano to hunt for a knockout closing stages.

In the tenth and final round, Serrano went for broke and what transpired in the MSG ring was a relentless exchange with Taylor for the ages, a fitting finale for a fight to remember.

In the end, it was Taylor who was awarded the win with a split decision, and it was no surprise calls for a rematch soon followed.

It may have taken 31 months, but finally Taylor and Serrano went head-to-head in Dallas.

Serving as the co-main event to Jake Paul's clash with Mike Tyson, another 10-round thriller played out at the AT&T Stadium.

Similar to the first fight, Serrano looked to assert dominance early and landed an early overhand left.

A Taylor headbutt in round four opened a cut above Serrano's right eye, but this did not affect the Puerto Rican's gameplan who continued her all-out attack.

Taylor did have a point deducted in round eight for the use of her head, and with Serrano finishing the stronger at the end of the fight, it looked like it would be one win apiece in this rivalry.

However, controversy struck with all three judges scoring the fight 95-94 in Taylor's favour.

While some may be bored of seeing Taylor and Serrano meeting for a third time with the former having two wins under her belt, the trilogy will hopefully offer a definitive closing chapter to a rivalry between two fighters who have been pioneers in the sport of boxing over recent years.

When is the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano trilogy fight?

The third fight between Taylor and Serrano will take place on Friday, July 11.

This eagerly anticipated contest will be staged at Madison Square Garden in New York with a start time not confirmed at the time of writing.

While the undercard has not been announced at the time of writing, it has been stated that Taylor vs Serrano will headline an all-female fight card.
