Nigel Benn and Conor Benn make incredible £5,000 bet ahead of Chris Eubank Jr fight
Nigel Benn will be £5,000 richer if he can get himself into excellent shape during his son’s training camp for his next fight.
On April 26, live on DAZN, Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr will finally collide in a huge grudge fight that already has the boxing world excited.
Originally set to fight in 2022, the bout was postponed when an adverse finding in Benn’s drug test meant the show could not go on.
Since then, the feud between the pair has become even more personal and it took a nasty turn last month when Eubank Jr smashed an egg in Benn’s face at the press conference.
With eggs blamed as a potential reason for the finding in the drug test, Eubank Jr took an opportunity to strike first before security intervened.
Benn Sr, who was present at the event to publicise the show, will now join Benn in the gym, and if he can finish the period with a six pack, he will pick up a reward.
“I’ll be in camp. He’s going through some little aches and pains now, but by the time I’m back, he’ll be ready to rock and roll,” said Benn, who spoke with Vision4Sport, who are hosting a private Q&A with Nigel Benn on the day of the fight. “When I was in his first training camp, when he was preparing for Eubank in Ireland - that was the best training camp ever. We had a great time.
“And I believe this camp is going to be on another level. That first camp was different - this time, it’s a different Benn.
“Also, we’ve had this bet going for about ten years now. We’ve even got a lawyer involved - it’s 5 grand on whether I can get abs by the end of training camp. I want that six-pack before I even get to camp. Hands down I am winning that 5k.”
