Vergil Ortiz Jr is hoping 2025 can be a big year for his boxing career, with the super welterweight star looking to build on some career-best performances over the next few months.
Earlier this year, the Texan-born star appeared at Riyadh Season's The Last Crescendo, where he took on ex-WBA super welterweight champion Israil Madrimov in Saudi Arabia.
After a strong start by his foe, Ortiz Jr came into his own and dominated the contest as it went the distance, winning the bout by unanimous decision to extend his 23-0 record.
It may be less than a month since he went head-to-head with Madrimov, but the American is already looking to put plans in place for the rest of the year.
Appearing on DAZN's Ariel x Ade: The Boxing Show, Ortiz Jr named the three opponents he would like to face in the not too distant future.
"[Sebastian] Fundora for sure, he has the WBC," the 26-year-old said. "I believe [Jermell] Charlo is a good fight, there’s a lot of people saying that he’s done.
"Then you’ve got people saying that I can’t beat him. I think people would love to see that fight. I think that he’s a good fighter and I would love the opportunity to fight him.
"As for three, [Bakhram] Murtazaliev, that’s a fight everyone wants to see."
Fundora is in action on March 22 when he defends his WBC and WBO super welterweight titles against Chordale Brooker, while Murtzazliev has not fought since beating Tim Tszyu by third round stoppage in October.
Charlo on the other hand last stepped into a boxing ring in September 2023 when he was comprehensively beaten by pound-for-pound great Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
