Leading trainer provides big update on the future of Natasha Jonas
The future of Natasha Jonas will be revealed when the former world champion returns from holiday following her recent loss to Lauren Price.
Headlining a huge show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Jonas was unable to figure Price out as she lost a wide points decision on the scorecards.
Although Jonas performed admirably in the contest, the 40-year-old may find it difficult to start again and make another club towards another world title.
The Liverpool star has been one of women’s boxing most exciting performers and she has contributed massively to the sport in stellar performances against the likes of Terri Harper and Mikaela Mayer .
Joe Gallagher, Jonas’s trainer since day one , has previously made his intentions clear on what Jonas should do and after falling short against Price, his position remains the same.
The Manchester trainer has been an instrumental part of Jonas’ success, and he is eager for his charge to walk away from the sport after capturing many honours as both an amateur and professional.
"Natasha has got to have time away with her family and her daughter, go on holiday, and she'll make her decision when she comes back," said Gallagher when speaking Sky Sports after the fight.
"Whatever she chooses to do I'll back her. A year ago, I was asking her to retire after she beat Mikaela Mayer, so everybody knows how I feel about it. She (Price) was just a little bit too quick and too sharp on the night."
