Ryan Garcia was not surprised by Teofimo Lopez slapping Arnold Barboza Jr during the press conference ahead of their WBO super lightweight world title fight in New York's Times Square.
Taking place on May 2, live on DAZN PPV, Lopez vs Barboza features on a fight card which will also see Garcia in action against Rolando 'Rolly' Romero in the main event.
The build-up is well underway for this historic event with a press conference taking place on Monday in Los Angeles where the world's media got to hear from the fighters.
Tensions boiled over when Lopez and Barboza posed for the face-off with the former slapping his rival before being separated.
Speaking to DAZN after the incident, Garcia gave his thoughts on what transpired.
"I guess Teo is mad because he took off his hat because he loves his hat that much," Garcia said.
"I don’t think you should do that s—t, but it happened, and I don’t know what they’re going to do about it."
When asked how he would have reacted if he was slapped, Garcia hinted that it would be something that he would not take lightly with the following response, "I would have tried to kill him."
