Andy Lee has spoken of his admiration for Moses Itauma, as well as revealing how things played out between the exciting prospect and Joseph Parker when the pair sparred.

Since signing with Frank Warren to start his professional journey, the young Briton has been held in high regard, backing up the hype with some impressive performances.

Last December, Itauma provided enormous evidence to suggest he was on the verge of big things when he excelled on the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 undercard

Against Demsey McKean, the starlet stopped the tough Australian in the opening round following a blistering attack, to cement his heavyweight-champion-in-waiting status.

The focus for Itauma now is what direction he takes this year, with a potential world title shot on the horizon if the belts held by Usyk and Daniel Dubois become fragmented.

The 20-year-old has already spent plenty of time sparring elite fighters, including former world champion Parker, who was due to fight Dubois for his IBF crown last month.

Lee, Parker’s trainer, was present for the rounds the pair shared, and now he has offered his verdict on how things played out between them on the canvas.

"I saw them spar," he told The Ring . "It was four rounds. It was very competitive. But for four rounds, everyone can be competitive.

"If Joe's going to do four rounds with another guy after that, and then another four rounds after that with another guy, you're going to do well.

"It wasn't as if he did particularly well, they were just competitive rounds. Joe probably got the better of it, but it was very competitive.

"We know him well and we really like him. To be honest we had a great time with him, and we missed him when he left."
