Tyson Fury will remain retired for the foreseeable future, believes Frank Warren, though the Queensberry Promotions boss does not rule out a possible return for the star.
'The Gypsy King' announced his retirement from the ring earlier this year following a 2024 that saw him lose two bouts with rival heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The results delivered the first losses of Fury's career as a professional, and he announced his decision to quit shortly after the second bout in December.
It is not the first time that the star has retired, only to walk back his decision, but when asked whether it would be true or false on him fighting again, Warren demurred on a return.
"At the moment, it's false," he told DAZN's The Ariel x Ade Show. "I say that genuinely, because Tyson is a very unique guy. I've spoken to him a couple of times [since the call].
"But I've not spoken to him about fighting again. If he does, that's got to be his choice. He's a very wealthy guy, he's made some serious money.
"If he does fight, it will be because he has a fighting heart. For me, that is going to be the thing. Can he walk away from the sport? He says he has.
"At this moment in time, he says he is in a really good place and he's very happy. That for me is important. He's been one of the two best heavyweights of the century.
"I just want him to enjoy his family and life. He had a hard year last year, and he needs now to go and enjoy his life."
In his announcement, Fury made reference to the 18th-century highwayman Dick Turpin, though when pressed for its meaning, Warren would not supply an answer.
"I've got to be honest, I've not discussed it with him," he added, "There are various thoughts.
"I think, for Tyson, that's something that if he does come back and does an interview, I'm sure he will clear up. He's a very complex guy."
