Tommy Fury declares desire stronger than ever ahead of Hanjalic clash

Watch Fury vs Hanjalic - Friday live on DAZN

Tommy Fury has admitted spending so long out of the ring has strengthened his desire to fight again and maintain his 100% record.

The Manchester-born cruiserweight faces Kenan Hanjalic in Hungary on Friday night, which is live on DAZN.

It will make his first bout since beating YouTuber KSI – real name Olajide William Olatunji – in a boxing match in October 2023.

Bosnian Hanjalic, 27, has fought five times since making his professional debut in 2019, winning four times and losing once.

Fury, who is unbeaten in 10 fights, underwent hand surgery after his win over KSI in Manchester, a bout which was not licensed by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Now he is raring to go and, in an exclusive interview with DAZN News ahead of Friday’s fight, Fury said: “It's been a long journey to be honest with nearly two years out of the ring.

“I'm just ready to come back and show everybody 'this is me, this is where I belong'.

“I'm a fighter and I have been doing it for a long time.

“I've not just fought two big names, I've been boxing since I was eight years old.

“I've been doing it all my life – I won titles as an amateur – and this is where I am.

“I want people to realise that and if they tune in on Friday night on DAZN they're going to see that.”

Fury admitted not fighting for over 18 months had fuelled his desire for more success.

Months on from a collapsed bout with Darren Till, the star will look to get his career back up and running away from home soil against a new opponent.

“I think it's a road that I had to go down to be honest,” he explained.

“I had to go through those tough times because if you come out the other side it just makes you 10 times stronger.”
