Jake Paul explains why he will beat Canelo Alvarez after disappointing William Scull win

DAZN
Paul vs Chavez Jr - June 28 - live on DAZN PPV

Jake Paul is confident that he can beat undisputed super middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez who he labelled as "washed up".

Alvarez became a two-time undisputed champion at 168lbs earlier this month when he beat William Scull by unanimous decision, but it was a performance which received considerable criticism.

Despite the negative verdicts, Alvarez's next fight has been set and it will be against Terence Crawford with the bout set to take place in September

One person who is always lingering over Alvarez is Jake Paul who was close to facing the Mexican superstar this year, but the deal fell through at the final stages of negotiations.

As a result, Paul is watching Alvarez's career with a microscope and he did not hold back when assessing the latter's performance on The Ariel Helwani Show whilst also expressing confidence once again in being able to overcome the Mexican if they were to meet.

"I would have beat Canelo for sure," Paul said.

"Even just watching him against Scull, he’s just washed up, inactive, doesn’t throw a lot of punches, not very strong."

Paul also claimed that Scull did not deserve a shot at Canelo. Instead, he insisted Vladimir Shishkin, a sparring partner for 'The Problem Child', should have had his shot at glory.

"What’s crazy is one of my main sparring partners, of the last two years, was the one that lost to William Scull. He is the one who should have been fighting Canelo, his name’s Vladimir Shishkin.  He beat Scull way worse than Canelo did."

Paul may not have landed the Alvarez fight, but he will be back in action on June 28 when he takes on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr live on DAZN PPV
