Jake Paul targets major world champion and it is not Canelo Alvarez or Gervonta Davis

DAZN
Paul vs Chavez Jr - June 28 - live on DAZN PPV

Jake Paul is set for a huge challenge on June 28, live on DAZN, when he welcomes the threat of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a former world champion, but that has not prevented him from looking forward.

In Chavez Jr, Paul is facing one of the biggest tests of his career as the Mexican star, the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez, is a former world champion.

At the peak of his powers, Chavez Jr was able to score impressive wins over the likes of Andy Lee, and he almost defeated Sergio Martinez after hurting the brilliant Argentinian late in their fight.

In recent years, Chavez Jr’s form has endured a sharp downturn with losses to Canelo Alvarez and Anderson Silva suggesting that his best years are behind him.

Victory for Paul over Chavez could rank as his best win, and if victorious, Gilberto Ramirez could be his next target.

The unified cruiserweight world champion appears on the same bill as Paul vs Chavez Jr as he faces Yuniel Dorticos and at a recent press conference to publicise the event, Paul made it clear that Ramirez is a future target.

“Yeah, 100%. This is what I came here to do. To become world champion and create one of the greatest sports stories the world has ever seen,” said Paul when speaking to the media regarding a showdown with Ramirez after Chavez Jr.

“Going from Disney Channel to YouTube to world champion in six to seven years? That’s the most relatable and best sports story that any kid can get behind.

“I’m here to inspire the next generation and do what no one has ever done before in the world’s hardest sport, and that is boxing.”
