Michael 'Venom' Page reacts to Shara Bullet retirement rumors

DAZN

Michael "Venom" Page handed Shara "Bullet" Magomedov his first professional loss at UFC Saudi Arabia this month, prompting fans to wonder what could be next for the highly touted prospect.

Shortly after the bout, rumors swirled that Magomedov had been forced to retire due to his eye condition. That rumor was fueled when Magomedov revealed a serious health issue left him at a diminished capacity heading into the fight.

“I wasn’t my true self in the Octagon. Unfortunately, there was just 30 percent of me in there,” Magomedov told Ushatayka. “It was the worst camp in my entire professional MMA career. I’ve never felt that sick in the cage. My legs were gone, my arms felt weak, and I’ve got a lot of health issues I don’t want to reveal. It was a whole bunch of problems that affected my performance. My mind was there, but my body was off.

In a recent interview with DAZN News, Samy Izabachene asked Page his thoughts on Magomedov's potential retirement.

"Yeah, it came out. Somebody said it to me as well. I think it's due to his eye. But it hasn't been confirmed, so I don't believe it's true. Unless he says it, I don't believe it's true," he said.

Page also gave his thoughts on his performance versus Magomedov.

"Yeah, I've looked at it a couple of times now," he said. "There's still a few things that I wanted to adjust and I could have done better. But I'm obviously happy with the fact that he couldn't really do anything to me. I'm happy with the result, obviously winning. Like I said, it keeps building a new momentum to push forward."

It's unclear if Magomedov is really retired or not, but one thing is sure, MVP thinks he's got the skills to be a big star.

"Yeah, he's great. I think he's an exceptional fighter. I just knew even before the fight that that's somebody that I could beat, but he's a very talented fighter," he said.
