'Been waiting for my whole career!' - Arnold Barboza Jr ready to seize limelight against Jack Catterall

'Been waiting for my whole career!' - Arnold Barboza Jr ready to seize limelight against Jack CatterallDave Thompson / Matchroom Boxing

Arnold Barboza Jr believes he is a better fighter than Jack Catterall and intends to deliver in a fight that he has "been waiting for my whole career" when they meet next week.

The two men go head-to-head at Manchester's Co-op Live for the WBO interim super lightweight title, live on DAZN, as they respectively plot a successful 2025 ahead of them.

Catterall, a former challenger for the undisputed title in the division, is seeking a first world championship and will hope to deliver in front of a partisan crowd on February 15.

But Barboza Jr, who is looking to convert a 31-0 record into big-fight and big-name recognition beyond the division, believes that he has the juice to stop him in his tracks.

"Of course," he told DAZN's Face-Off. "I've been calling for this fight since 2022. This is a great opportunity, and I hope it is sold out. 20,000 fans bullying me is going to turn me on.

"This is something that I've dreamed about. This is a fight that I've been waiting for my whole career. I've worked hard to get here, just like him, so let's get it on.

"I feel like my whole career, I've been the underdog. Even when I'm the favourite, I think I've been overlooked. People are finally getting to see who Barboza is.

"On February 15th, my hand will be raised and that belt will come with me. I'm overall a better fighter than him.

"He can call me a B-class fighter, but the only thing special about him is that he is a lefty. But we'll find out. We can talk, but we'll find out."
