Malik Scott, the coach of former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, has claimed Premier League winner and Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards can become the Misfits heavyweight champion.

During his 14-year career, Richards made 203 Premier League appearances, scoring seven goals and won the Premier League with Manchester in 2012.

The former England international has since made a name for himself as a television pundit with his relationship with former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane providing memorable moments when analysing matches.

Scott on the other hand believes Richards could be a force in KSI's Misfits Boxing and even become a champion with the promotion.

"Micah’s good," Scott told SpaceportSweden.com. "He’s heavy-handed, obviously strong. He's not slow. He’s athletic and has got coordination. I enjoyed the whole session.

"I'm trying to get him in another session. If he wanted to become Misfits heavyweight world champion, he could absolutely do it. I'm backing Big Meeks, baby.

"If he wanted me to train him, I would get with him and he would go and win that s—t. Absolutely. If I trained Micah from 12 years old, he'd have been heavyweight champion of the world.”

Premier League players appearing on Misfits is not a strange sight with Premier League winner Danny Simpson taking on Danny Aarons last year with the contest ending in a split draw.

Misfits Boxing's X Series returns on March 29 when KSI takes on Dillon Danis in the main event of a jam-packed card in Manchester which will be broadcast live on DAZN
