Otto Wallin admits he was "excited" and "surprised" by the opportunity to face Derek Chisora, with the heavyweight star expecting Jarrell Miller to fight instead.
The Swede will head to Manchester's Co-op Live this weekend for The Last Dance, live on DAZN, as the Briton bids farewell to a home crowd in his 49th bout.
Originally, American Miller was expected to be the opponent for what is billed as likely Chisora's penultimte fight, ahead of one more clash abroad this year.
But the contest fell through, leading to the call for Wallin, and now he acknowledges that he is looking forward to a test that came as a bolt from the blue for him.
"I'm really excited to get this big opportunity," he told The Stomping Ground. "You never know if youre going to get an opportunity like this.
"I've worked really hard to win this fight so I'm happy that it's almost here, and the talk is almost done. I don't try to focus too much on him, I just focus on myself.
"It's not been too difficult for me. I just got a call from my manager one day, who [asked] would I like to fight Chisora. I don't expect a different Derek.
"He's the same guy. He's going to bring the fire and the heat. I was surprised, becaue I had talked to a person on Jarrell Miller's team in October.
"He said he was going to fight Chisora in Enlgnad. Then all of a sudden, I got the call. I didn't expect it."
